Celebrating Juneteenth
Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19th, holds significant historical and cultural importance in the United States. It commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and serves as a reminder of the resilience and struggle for freedom. This day marks the moment when Union soldiers, led by General Gordon Granger, arrived in Galveston, Texas in 1865 and announced the end of slavery, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth not only honors the long-awaited freedom but also acknowledges the ongoing fight for equality and justice. Our corporate offices are closed today to honor this momentous day. It is a time for reflection, education, unity, and celebration of African American heritage and the strides made towards lasting freedom and equality for all.
